Performance Products?

Does anyone have any experience with a company called Performance Products? I just ordered some Weltmiester airbox straps online for a test run. I want to get a RS carpet kit (which they offer $279.99) but before I do I'd like to know if they are legit.

They are very legit.

They have several lines of parts.

I have ordered serveral parts for my Toyota and Porsche
from them.

The also are very easy on returns.

I thing shipping is free right now also.

Tom.

I order pelican wherever possible but they don't carry certian things that performance does. I just got an order from Perforamce of stainless steel piston calipers.

Use pelican when you can, this BBS makes it all worth it.. ohh and I've never had better customer service either

I bought from performance products back in the 60's...they've been around a long time.

They have a pretty nice catalog, but not the best prices. They're a reputable shop, though.

I have returned about half the stuff I've bought from them - Wayne has better prices, and doesn't sell JUNK.

Case in point - I bought some heat exchangers, and they arrived coated in 1/8" thick paint with so many drips and numerous large dents. The dents were painted over, so it didn't occur in shipping. Took 2 weeks to negotiate a proper return, in spite of my calling about 5 minutes after UPS dropped them at my doorstep.

In the same order I also bought muffler supporting straps. Neither strap was the same length, inspite of being the same part number. One was too short to fit, so I sent them back too.

In a separate order I thought I'd get one of those loud euro style horns. When received the box had obviously been opened, and the electrical leads had been broken off by someone. So when they do take returns for broken or damaged parts, they apparently go right back into the sales bin.

That flashy catalog is nice by costs bucks, so my approach is to use the catalog to find what I want, then buy from Pelican Parts.

I keep a performance and tweeks in the bathroom as a matter of course. I haven't gone as far as taking the laptop in there but...

In my experience, if Performance has it Pelican can get it usually at a better price.

I tend to do the same thing as Boyo. Use the PP catalog to window shope and look at the eye candy and then go buy from Pelican. In many cases Pelican is cheaper but even on the items that are more I still go with Pelican. Why?

The level of service that Wayne and the guys give is outstanding and they have supported past and future club events like no other vendor.

Keep up the good work Pelican

Their web site user interface is poor, their hold button on the phone works all too well and their Porsche specific knowledge was lacking when I was trying to find out if a specific item was right for my car. They put me on hold twice for 10+ minutes each trying to find the Porsche guy.

Conversely, when I've called or used Pelican my experiences have been all positive. Friendly, knowledgeable, quick and their sales support this board. Win - win.

Pelican can supply pretty much everything that PP can, just call them and ask? ..........or use the PP board in the future for your questions? Hah ha - but a good point nonetheless.
This board ROCKS!!!!

They have a few items that are unique.

Pricing is rough, basically like dealer less 10- 20%. Fast shipping though.

This is a bit of a tangent from PP, but how about AJUSA? I've been looking for an early dual out sport muffler for my 73 and they have the best price (beats Pelican by a bit) around for that part. Any comments on the quality of their stuff?

Pelican matches prices if you ask, usually. And their support is top-notch.

Not to mention that for some parts, it's actually still in the Performance Parts packaging with a Pelican sticker on it.
