Front trunk restoration
Hi all. I've realised this has been done before but this is my attempt at a partial front trunk restoration. Essentially, I dismantled and cleaned most of the ventilation area as I needed to access the cig lighter cable.
This led onto removing all the trunk carpets and cleaning off a lot of glue residue and generally cleaning up what was there already. I repainted the tank, strut brace and lower pan with epoxy paint. I made patches around the strut brace brackets to cover scuff marks from removing dried sealant. I tried not to "over-restore" as this area was never properly painted from the factory. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Quite happy with the outcome. |

Thanks! There is a very nice tig-welded stainless steel pipe going into the fuel tank that was nice to polish up. These cars continue to amaze with their awesome build quality.
The other issue is what to do with the vent area after removing the cardboard cover. Rennline do a cover but I heard the fit is a bit of a challenge. So I've decided just to bag all the factory carpets etc and just leave what I have now which is nice for car shows and easy to keep clean with the occasional wipe down. As for all the dried glue, a got most of that off with either WD-40 which worked really well on the cured sealant or an acetone-based product and where required a Dremel tool with polishing pad. A lot of late nights with my "Home-CEO" thinking I had gone nuts. |

LOL.
I got one too. Very, very nice resto. Now you’l need a thick black blanked that you can keep rolled up between the brake master and inner fender that you can roll out when you “have to” put something in the frunk. Cheers, Johan

Johan that's a great idea. Home CEO is pretty handy at sewing etc so maybe she can make one covered in Sliverknit?

Looks great...when do you get the clear frunk hood?
PS...who operates the brakes for you when you drive
