CV Axles Question

Is there any special tools that can crimp the metal caps/back boot to the CV. The back cap that attaches to the rubber boot is loose on the CV and I’m afraid it won’t seal well. I tried using a rubber mallet but it’s not staying tight. How do people attach these?

I’m changing boots on 4 axles. 1 was a tight fit. This was not.

Once you torque the Allen bolts it should pull it all together.

Just what Bruce said. On my 1984, these are not even used, as there is a gasket between the CV and the transmission flange.
