Where to buy cylinder head temp sensors
I want to replace my temp sensor on my 86 carrera but it seems that the Bosch product is NLA. Only the Porsche brand is available. At 266 dollars.
Any recommendations as where I can purchase this at a better price? |

Sensor.
Do a search.
I think the BMW sensors are a bit cheaper. I would pass on the aftermarket units such as the URO. Gerry

![]() Looks like our host sells the temp sensor. One is $266 under the Porsche part number 930-606-915-00. The other is listed under the Bosch part number 0-280-130-070 and is $96 Porsche doesn't make the sensor. Bosch does. https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/0280130070INT.htm?pn=0-280-130-070-INT&bt=Y&fs=0&SVSVSI=810 |

Literally hundreds of sensors that are electrically compatible (eg use Bosch's NTC tech), but the short reach is the limiter - almost everything else has a 17mm projection past the end of the threads.
The 70's VW/914 sensor looks to be the same reach: 0280130012. Replace the spade with a 2-pin EV1/JT male plug, re-cycle your old grommets and good to go. Seems to be widely available for $20-30, including from your local FLAPS. Reman items are available made from stainless Yeah, dedicated ground connection would be better. Ho-hum.

CHT Sensor........
Michael,
I recently bought one from our host. Contact Glenn Sager (PP Parts Specialist) @ ext. #240. Let him know that you want the BMW CHT sensor. It is the same as the Porsche CHT but under a different packaging and part number. And a lot cheaper. Tony |

Thanks Tony I'll give that a shot. I'm glad I don't necessarily need this. I'm replacing the reference sensors so I thought I'd replace the cht while I was in there. Our host has the Porsche one, since I don't need it I don't want to pay 250 dollars for it.

Quick FYI: we have sensor 993 606 013 00 in development, but don't have an ETA at this time. Probably looking at another year or so.

You guys saying "our host has it" need to try adding it to your cart - just because it is listed and doesn't show "NLA" doesn't mean they have stock, but trying to order one will show this.
They didn't have either a few weeks ago when this first came up. They currently don't have the Bosch part, only the $300 Porsche one. Tony, it'd be really cool if you could post either the BMW or Bosch part # for the CHT - or the model(s) it fits?
