Red face Marelli Re-build Kit

Given the rising cost & scarcity a of a Bosch compatible distributor for a 2.2L (1970) engine;
is a re-build kit offered by "Parts*******" for a Marelli S112BX a viable alternative?
Does anyone have any experience with this kit?

I have searched for the 'normally recommended' Bosch substitute but am facing a rather large
purchase price of a used unit which will not include added costs of shipping, refurbishment
& any machining necessary for the conversion.

I also face a double whammy in that I pay in 'canuck bucks' plus the usual
ridiculous shipping & tax charges we incur north of the 49th. The Marelli I
currently have seems in reasonable & re-buildable condition & the kit in
question may/should suffice.

I would gladly buy from our host if this kit was offered & said kit would be thusly vetted.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome,

I can’t help on your actual question, but keep in mind that Marelli parts are generally harder to come by when you need them in the future.

There is an electronic distributor replacement on the market from a company called 123distributor. I just put one in my ‘77 after reading up on some reviews and I am happy, although I have only put 20 miles on the car since installing, so not much of a test yet.

Best,
Rutager

I have never used this, but Parts Klassic has a kit for Marelli.

I’d trust the rebuild kit from them, they do a nice job on their offerings. We just used their rebuild kit for an early Bosch distributor and it worked just fine.
