Another wheel sizing question

What is the thought process behind running 6&7/16's, in lieu of 7&7/16's ?

What about using 225's on 7's in the rear with a 1.5" spacer and 205's on 7's in the front with no spacer. This question is based on filling out the wheels wells for appearance. Any handling issues with this combo.

Still looking for a nice set of 9's,

Something just goes against a 911 with the same size wheels at both ends Although I'm just anti spacer, 6" up front with 205's and 7's in the back with a spacer and 225's is a cheap upgrade to wider wheels. When you say your looking for 9's, do you mean a great bargain or just any in general. I think the secret is out on 9's and the chances are slim you will find them on the down side of $1k. That said, I've recently scene a set of 7's and 9's go for $1250. Keep looking for the 9's. I sold a set of 7's and 8's and now have 8 and 9 fuchs. Look at them as an investment if it makes it any easier. I can't see there price ever going down.

Two pairs of 7's would be a good, cost-effective upgrade in my opinion.

The 7's with 205's up front will look better than the 6's (matter of taste) and will provide you with a little more grip. The added front grip will dial out a bit of understeer that is built into the 911 from the factory.

I can see why you'd go with the spacers too. Cars with SC/Carrera flares appear to lack a bit of rear track with the standard 7's and 225 series tires.

I believe Wil Ferch (that's his Pelican ID) has done exactly this "7's all around" setup, but without the rear spacers. He can certainly give you some advice on this.

My wife’s Carrera winter wheels are 7X16s front & rear. Her track wheels are 7 & 8X16s but the 8s are 944 offsets so they still look like 7s. 205s & 225s for both sets.

I have 7x16s all the way around with 205/55s on the front and 225/50s in the rear. The rear fenders are being massaged out as I need about 1/8" to clear the outer buldge of the tire. Lips have been rolled.

1 degree of negitive camber is also applied to the rear.

The handleing improvement over 205s in the rear is amazing, in fact it is scary.

As mentioned...I run 911 style 7" in front with 205/55-16's...and stock 911 style 7" in back with 225/50-16's. I like the added front track and extra sidewall stability afforded by the front 7"'s. Taken as a whole system, this has tamed (mostly) the low-speed understeer the car had before. If you're going for "looks" I can see that spacing out the rears fill the rear wells better...but now you're back to square one by mimicing the original configuration for low speed understeer....by widening the rear track.
