Engine out, bored, what else to replace?

Subject says it all.

My engine has been out since late November for a head job and stud change out, and I’ve been taking the opportunity to fix up other parts of the car.

So far in the engine bay I’ve added an engine sound pad, cleaned up some wiring, changed the shift shaft seal on the trans, cleaned a bunch of gunk, doubled up my rear deck strut, and replaced an oil line.

Otherwise, I’ve replaced my shifter linkage bushings and changed out my door lock cylinders to match the ignition.

The fuel filter and accumulator don’t seem too awfully hard to change with the engine in, and everything seems to be fine there, is there any reason to preemptively change those? What else do you wish you had changed while you waited for your engine?

I don't always add to the expenses but sometimes it is just the thing to do.

Replace your rubber seals around the engine bay.
Repaint your tins

You could replace your clutch cable to go with your new clutch.
Also check the pedal cluster for wear.

This is generally my train of thought. While removing this engine is by no means a difficult job, I'd like to make the most of it.

I've owned this car since last May, and it's been both 1) in my possession, and 2) drivable for a grand total of 2 months, so once the engine is done, I'll be ready to put some miles on it in earnest.

These are great suggestions, thanks everyone!

Clean and repack the CV joints.
Throttle cable?
Also, check the brake vacuum booster line.

The bushings on the trailing arms where they attach by the transmission tunnel are much easier to get to with the engine out.

+1 on fuel lines and those trailing arm bushings. (I managed to replace trailing arm bushings with the engine in the car during my suspension rebuild - was not easy. Wish I had pulled the motor.)
