OTC Update #1: Testing at Spring Mountain

A quick update: Tyson and I finished a day of testing at Spring Mountain in Pahrump, Nevada. The 911 is running great. We made some suspension tweaks, and ran four sessions on the tight, technical track. Our initial times were very good, five full seconds faster than what we ran last year -- and last year we were on r-compound tires.

Here's the car up in the air. You'll notice that the stiff suspension doesn't allow it to droop very much.

Here's the car with all of its decals for the 7-day event.

This BBS is represented, front and rear. The car wouldn't exist if it weren't for Pelican.

Looks better with the decals, Jack!

I thought you'd have R-Compound rubber for OTC.

Sweet - I'm contually amazed how much faster that car is on street tires than other with R-compound.

Sweet, Jack. Looks devastating. I want some of those decals for the BBS. Although I'd add the web addy to the sticker.

Hi y'all
got an update from Jack this morning. Today they will be at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Though they have had a small problem with brake proportioning (we found them parts in the LV area to fix it) they still finished 1st in class ahead of the NSX , driven by Todd Southwell, and (surprise!) the Toyota Supra. The BMW's are SIX seconds off the pace! Interesting development. Jack will post results/ pix here soon
Stay tuned!
Dave

Question

Did you reinforce the pan there for jacking? I've been thinking about weldings some pads to the sill since I crunch metal every time I jack my car up from the side.

The war is far from over, but after 1st day they are in first place in T2, and would be 3rd in T1 with those times!! Tyson was thinking that they would be lucky to place w/ pro driver in the NSX, team Pelican/TRE/Elephant/etc. is kicking some azzzz!!

Looking at BB2 with all the go fast stuff, decals AND two comfortable seats, etc. it suddenly dawned on me. Jack's basically built a 911 "tarmac spec rally car". Take a look at the current WRC's when they get to Corsica and you'll see what I mean. All the comforts of home AND it'll scream on the twisties.

Go get'em Jack!
