Question on alternators

I have a 73 911 and not sure which years will work or won’t and would like to know the reasons ? Thank you

Internal regulator v external regulator is one difference, next is the size of the shaft that the fan and pulley attach to.

There’s that chart again I posted in my for sale ad! Thanks to Tom Butler here for creating that.

I also thought of the internal vs external voltage regulator issue after we spoke. Here’s a link to a tech bulletin (see page 116) with some details on the upgrade to the internal regulator.

Need to find out if your setup is older external regulator or has been updated to internal style already mounted within alternator
