15” tire replacement for 84 3.2

Am trying to find options on rears 215/60 & front 195/60 tires-for 15” Fuchs. There’s few choices and I am looking for a “H” tire, as I’ll only be mostly driving spirited weekend jaunts.

Any recommendations on manufacturers and a source to get those from?

Thanks for the help.

Not sure what wheels you have, and this suggestion does not fulfill your size requirement, but BF Goodrich makes the Rival S in 205/50/15 and 225/45/15. Seems like they may be a good option for you. I plan to pick up a set my next go-round.

there are also n-spec (porsche-developed/approved) pirelli p7 tires available in 205/50-15 and 225/50-15 that will fit your 911

If your 911 came with the typical factory Fuchs and 7 inch front and 8 inch rear like mine did the tire supply is limited. Finding a decent all purpose street tire that is safe to use in the rain or just general sports car driving is a challenge. I finally retired my 15s and they are up in my attic. I bought some 17 inch Euromeisters and I am happy with them. The tire selection is wide and varied.

Good luck. I sure hope the new Pirelli P7 is a better tire than the P7 of old.

Pirelli classic has 185/70 & 215/60 x15 CN36 reproductions w/ modern materials and construction even has Porsche N4 blessing, Last I looked Pirelli P6000 came is 185/70, 195/65 & 215/60. Sumitomo has some A/S tires in those sizes too

For better performance you might look at some shorter tires

Thanks for help. Darrin, taking your advice on the P7’s. GH Carrera, am hoping they’ve improved them, too - have heard you just don’t get the mileage out of them.

I have recently had the Dunlop Sport Classics at 185/70R15 on the 7x15" fronts and 215/60R15 on the 8x15" rears and then switched to Pirelli P6000 N2 at 195/65R15 front and 215/60R15 rears. The Dunlops were horrid (way too soft and wobbly) while I think the Pirelli works really well on the 3.2 on the street.

While P7s are fine and will markedly improve the performance of the car there are better choices for 205/50 & 225/50 & all the 205/225 choices work much better on 7 & 8

Are the P7s a little taller than the size would suggest? A 205/50-15 is really short.

I went with the cool retro look of Cookies on my 87 Carrera and with even more retro 70 series tires (205/70 and 215/70) front and back. No complaints on handling or ride.

Everyone has their own opinion on appearance but 205/70 and 215/70 is just too tall and sucks up an additional ~24lb-ft of torque over the already tall and torque sucking 185/70 & 215/60 x15

Seems that not all 3.2's are alike. Mine just happens to have lots of low end grunt. Guess I'm just lucky.

Cheers,

Joe
