Questions on dash components

So, some background.

My restorer is building me a Porsche powered 1971 VW camper van. It already has a rebuild 1985 3.2 flat 6 with PMO carbs, 915 gearbox, boxster brakes, so the hard part is done but we want to fit a 911 dash and gauges.

I got hold of a 1986 RHD dash (the metal part) from a scrap 1986 targa and that is being altered to fit the van but we need the other dash components such as dash top, bolster pads, pad for ashtray, air vents, glove box etc.

So, are there different bolster pads for the RHD and LHD dashs?
It looks like there were a range of dash parts that went up to 85 and then a new set of parts from 86-89 but there seem to be some cross overs? What changed between 85 and 86?

Any other advice on getting dash components would be appreciated no matter how bad the condition as we are having to cut them about to fit the van anyhow.

Dave

As you can see the van is on air ride, has significant chassis strengthening in place and has been done to a great standard!

So, it turns out the metal part is actually from a 77, I now have a dash pad (top) that isn't year correct but we can make work. I think I have found a set of RHD facias from rosepassion.com and now just need the knee pads, vents, heater control etc

and I saw it in the flesh for the first time and it is surprisingly close in profile to a VWBay dash, we just need to extend its width by about 3"
