While possible, factory wrenches would be annoying to use on a drain bolt.
I don't think he should only buy 2 random sockets.

He just bought an expensive vintage car.
I think he can afford a couple of hand tools.

Spending $350 to do your first oil change is not a big ask for someone who can buy a vintage 911

Hah, in the deep boonies nothing can save you when your CVs blow out on the road and a hole appears in the tranny, the 915 grenades, the CIS airbox blows up or the caveman carbs leak and burns up your engine etc etc you get the idea.

If I had a wallet that full, I’d only be using the car to drive to and from WholeFoods! I’ll remember to pack a sleeping bag and a camp stove if I ever go driving in the woods.

I have budget for tools and now have an excellent list. I won’t go all in straight away but I will buy the foundations, and then the incremental tools needed for the job at hand. The more tools I have, the more things I have to blame when things go wrong ...

Great to have everyone in my corner. What we’re really rooting for is this though ... Don’t worry, the rolling fields being toiled in the background is just a mural. I’m not in the boonies ...

This made me laugh, because at the same that he was taking this photo (outside a nice co-op grocery store down the street from me called the Dill Pickle), I was using my 911 to....drive to Whole Foods.

Hah, I was responding in part to "He just bought an expensive vintage car." That tool is definitely very useful if you can afford it and my guess is you can ! If not, yes, I would start with a $20 wrench set, metric, in spite of what the OP said.
