Took the heads off and replaced the expandable tubes with gold porsche tubes. Everything is all back together. Next on my list is trimming and fitting the getty RSR shroud and mounting the MSD, coils, and fuel regulator in the bay.
Anyone have any input on a good fuel filter set up? Also scooped another project today. Never ends. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1610070191.jpg |
I'm really curious to see see what kind of power this thing makes.
3.2SS vs 3.3SS, straight cut vs. 964 steel intermediate shaft gears, and GT3 oil pump vs. Auto Verdi are decisions I have to make this year for my build...... and to get my 930 heads from my Girlfriend's in Germany to send to Xtreme once we all can travel again. |

The roadkill episode was 440 into a Suzuki samari. The Mercedes 300GD kind of looks like a samari when there is no size context.

Nice looking work, it’s so cool how pretty the engine is during build almost a shame to have to run . Will be exciting any plans to take it back apart and blue print? |

Hope you get, mine is built almost identical to that tread, your cams are probably hotter than my Elgin S , mine makes peak hp around 6800. My cams come in with carbs around 4000. I came in a little under 300 at crank, but I think I may need a little more carb fine tuning. Anyway know you will have fun with it

SO Stoked to see you getting your engine together after all this time.
That's awesome that you picked up a G-Wagen too. I was eyeballing them during the holidays. I think I'd go four-door but also be interested in something diesel. Excited to check it out. Let me know if/when you need a hand. |
Carrera tensioners in, valves all adjusted, and finally got the valve covers on. Tossed the fan and shroud on top just to see how it will look.
Up next is trimming the getty RSR shroud to fit. It needs a bit of love. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1611167488.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1611167510.jpg |
Never thought it would take 10 hours to fit a fan shroud but here we are. Glad thats finally over.
Ditched my stock crank pulley since I deleted the AC anyway. Shaved a pound there and finally got the flywheel and pressure plate on. Shaved a decent bit of weight there also.. I have to trade out my intake manifolds and PMO since they measure 37.5mm and my heads are are 40.5mm and then I can toss on the carbs, JBR dizzy, and get working on the wiring! Slowly chipping away at this since work has been up like crazy. Hoping for end of March to have it back in the car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1613184051.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1613184051.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1613184051.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1613184051.JPG |
G-Wagon
Love your G-Wagon.5-speed is nice.I had a 97 G300TD and a G320 gas for 12 years when I was living in Costa Rica. Both had Cayenne wheels as they bolt on.Porsche car tax pales as compared to G-Wagon tax for parts.Enjoy.Fred
