Beautiful head work. I don't think I've seen pics of any better.

Hopefully finding time to seal the case halves next week. I replaced the Oil pick up screen so now we’re set!

Great work.

Caught this nick in the cylinder while filing rings. Sent it back to EBS and waiting to hear what to do about it. I don’t feel comfortable running this cylinder with a small gouge so high up. Last road block till i get a long block.
Top are .017” second are .019” and oil are .015” as per JE’s guidelines. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1602088314.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1602088338.jpg |
Don't bother, I have gone round and round with both EBS and Millenium who does these for them. I is within their level of acceptance and actually there is a video on Millenium's website supporting that such pitting is evaluated upon QA inspections and certain amounts of pitting are indeed acceptable. That said, I have built 3 motors to date all with similar and even somewhat worse pitting and they are all fantastic motors.

Little update. I posted some progress photo of my heads but wanted to post some finished images. Bill at Extreme Cylinder Heads in FL did the best job I could ask for. CNC ported I/E ports, drilled for twin plug for a 12mm plug, full valve job, timeserts for exhaust rods, full JBR spring/retainer/cup kit, and all cleaned up. Can't recommend Bill enough for anything that needs some quality work.

I received my replacement cylinder and it has an Ra of 13 while the other 5 have 4-5 Ra. This is going back and it'll be 4-5 weeks till I get a replacement with the same quality as the first set. Hoping to fire this up before 2021 if nothing else big comes up.

It’s been a minute. Finally sourced a 3.2 core cylinder (thanks Duane) and got it back from Millennium.
I CC’ed the pistons domes, the heads, and got the deck height to .040” and got my CR dialed in. All the pistons and cylinders are in the engine. I highly recommend the Stomski circlip tool. Saved a ton of stress today and went smooth. Next for the heads and cam towers this week! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608527898.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608528014.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1608528155.jpg |
Cams towers and heads are finally in. Finished up at midnight last night and dropped both cams in quickly to test. 0 bindings. Time to take my first stab at timing cams today.

DC60 cams in and set at 5.0mm. Just need one more day in the garage to slap on the fan, shroud, and carbs. I put in an order with Brian at RarelyL8 for a long tube header system with heat so as soon as I get that in, the engine is ready for the car!

This build...I only just rebuilt my motor last year (in a hurry unfortunately), and this just makes me want to do it all over again. Love it, looking forward to seeing the headers.
