What do I need to complete this engine

I picked up this engine in a recent targa purchase. What I have gathered so far:

It is a 76 - 2.7 - 7R Case - Been worked over by Ollies.
The heads have been redone by Ollies and added twin plug setup.
A Clewitt Engineering 1001-61 is installed - Don't know what this is.
A Trigger Wheel 36-1 Mega Squirt and a Crank sensor 1/2" were purchased.
Appears to have these EFI throttle bodies.

What else do I need to get this engine to run? I'm guessing some sort of coil pack wires or a twin plug distro. There is a MSD PN 6425 installed in the car, but powering a flat 4 right now. Can that be used for this engine?

Should these throttle bodies come with injector plugs?

Any help is much appreciated, I'm pretty much only familiar with a stock 3.0 and CIS.

I emailed them, thats how I found out what they did. I also found out they are not engine rebuilders just a machine shop.

You might look up user Al Komsal and provide a full inventory; Al builds/provides EFI conversions.

From what I see, I think you'll need at least the following:

- ECU
- injectors and wiring harness
- fuel pump, pressure regulator, filter, etc.
- cam position sensor (at least I think so, not sure if you can go off the crank sensor only)
- ignition system (coil packs and harness)
- Vacuum manifold, MAP sensor, inlet air temp sensor
- Throttle linkage

(You could use the MSD but you'd also need a distributor, and it's probably easiest (and better performance) at this point to adapt a new system to fire off the ECU).

Did the previous owner have any kind of plan for this? If so, you might ask him to share...

@fanaudical - Hey thanks! This is the exact info I needed and where to start looking. I appreciate it.

Clewett 100-61 is a cam sync sensor that fits on the end of the driver's side cam. I can see the connector in your photo.

1978-98 Cam sync adapter & sensor w/ leads [1001-61-L] - $180.00 : Clewett Engineering, The complete solution for ignition & fuel injection

You only strictly need a cam sync sensor for sequential fuel injection; really only makes much of a difference at low/mid RPM running. But it'll run cleaner/better and use less fuel.

Any CIS pump will support EFI pressure/flows just fine (as EFI needs less than half the system pressure). Use any EFI pressure regulator with a vacuum reference - like the factory 3.2 one. Might as well add a flex fuel sensor while you're sorting out the filter - then you can run on any ethanol mix you might happen to get from the pump.

Select modern injectors - eg designed this century. The technology has come a long way in 35-odd years...

Look for a CHT sensor added to the cam tower - or buy the TurboKraft kit to adapt the 3.2 one between the cylinder fins. Some fit one to the chain case, but this basically sucks because this heats up a lot slower than the heads, and your warmup cycle ends up a long way out of sync with the motor (you don't need any warmup trim at all once the head is over 60-70C, which happens really fast - like 4-5 minutes before splash oil temps in the chaincase start to come up).

I'd add/use COP (I like the Cayenne coils; Beru developed them with Porsche to make a big fat spark) and any aftermarket ECU you like. If you'll not be tuning yourself, ask your tuner what he prefers - save you 100's...

A 1.1 bar MAP sensor is dirt cheap; add one/another for baro reference if you plan to drive up/down mountains...

@RWebb - Ollie's did align bore back to std.

@Spuggy - thanks for the info. I believe this is the EFI regulator, looks never used.

This looks to be the stock 2.7 Fuel pump so I can check that off if it is in working condition.

Also have this bag labeled HallSensor. I'm guessing this is the sprocket pick-up sensor?

I also found a used MPS with the plug drilled into. It looks to be one from a 914, but I don't have any serial numbers.

Looks like the fuel injectors are already installed at the fuel rails. You will need to know what size they are for tuning setup. Also, the throttle position sensor (TPS) appears to be installed on the forward #3 throttle body butterfly shaft. The TPS will be needed ECU tuning. Hopefully you have the throttle linkage rod setup that connects to throttle body banks to each other.

Very probably. This might be a Clewett setup; he does one with the Hall Effect for MegaSquirt, and another that accepts the Bosch mag sensor. You'll need the holder bracket if it's not bolted to the case already.
