Windshield Seal Install Question

Does anybody have pictures of the installed windshield seal along the top of the window along the headliner?

I keep seeing suggestions such as "get a plastic trim removal tool and slide the seal over that metal lip on the windshield frame" and what this doesn't tell me is how much does the seal need to overlap the metal lip.

Here are some pictures of the windshield installed, but the clip that holds the headliner is showing past the seal. Here's the worst/best overlap I have for 2 different headliner clips.

Just an FYI, after 4 install/remove cycles, I got it so the seal overlap is no worse than the better of the two photos. The weather here is cold, so maybe the on/off cycles helped to make the seal more pliable.
