Location: Placerville, CA.... You know, the only place on Highway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe the you find signal lights. Above the fog most of the time and I can see the stars of the Milky Way 8 out of 10 nights. Kinda cool.....

Has anyone tried removing the factory 3rd brake light from a later year model and replacing it with an LED strip? I have an '86 and the 3rd brake light blocks a lot of the rear view.

I placed my LED Hella OEM style 3rd light at the bottom, absolutely no obstructions.

However, I'm not worried about installing an LED afterwards. I'm more worried about removing the old one without any collateral damage. Quote:

Do not use a razor blade when removing the adhesive as not to damage the defrost element on the rear glass.
