I dropped off my dash @ classic 9. Not sure how long it will take but I have other projects to work on in the interim, namely my headliner.

These dashes may look simple, but there are enough contours that I doubt you'll get it on with a single piece of leather. You'll need a seam somewhere.
pre-sewn panel is 400 bucks, fwiw. : )

I had a leather-covered dash that had shrunk and cracked, I had it recovered using Alcantara. I highly recommend it, zero glare, reflection.

Dang, that looks good Shaun......

I bought a used black SC dash when I had my windshield out, I'm happy with it but take great care to keep it out of the sun.......it's still 40 years old. One regret is that it has the indentation for the serial # for the SC on the lower drivers side. Only I notice it but it bugs me.

Great discussion gentlemen, thanks for the ideas and experiences.

I called Audubon in San Diego and they want $850 and four weeks to recover my 74 dash in vinyl. They do great work, and I will most likely use them for some other things, but that’s more than I paid for my running and driving X1/9. I may simply need to get my head around what this is going to cost...

Tony did a great job. Had the top of doors and quarter windows done at the same time so the beltline matched. Sending rest of interior to him this winter.

dash

Hello,
There is no doubt that the professionals do a wonderful recovering job, but I thought I would share an alternative that I did last weekend. I purchased a used vinyl dash that had a few cracks that I filled, sanded etc. I then ordered some 4 way stretch vinyl for $30 shipped and spent about 15 hrs. recovering it. While it does not look as perfect as the professional jobs, it is fine for my "driver" car and for the invested time and money it is a good alternative. This is the second one I have done, I started a Pelican thread on the first one a year ago. Pictures below.
If anyone has interest or questions, please ask.

Dave

Another BIG thumbs up here for Classic 9.

The did the dash on my black/black '87 quite some years ago and it still looks great.

There was an issue when he first did the recovering (my screw-up not his - I didn't send it to him with the center A/C vent) and he made good on the fix without any additional charges.

As we say in New Zealand "that's perfect enough." In fact I think it looks amazing. Well done.
