911 Fuse box help
Hey guys, I have a '86 Cab with some interesting issues. In checking the fuse box, Panel 2 (extreme right to front of car) has no power when car is Ignition Off. No Power when ignition is Ignition On. No power to these 8 fuse links any time?? What gives? I know Panel 3 (extreme left edge) closest to driver is comprised of 3 fuse links, #1 is hot when key is ON, #2&3 hot always. Panel 1 is 10 fuse links, mostly ON only when ignition ON, plus a dead one I have to trace. Panel 2 above is 8 fuse links and just dead? any words of wisdom?? Thanks!

The lights, turn signals etc have to be on for the top fuses to have power.

I believe from s=wiring schematics, Panel 2 (closest to front of car) is all lights. The line side of each is the ?top? which may be powered when the lights are on, the load side is ?bottom? which runs to the fixture (termination). Can someone provide clarity on why nothing in this panel works, Ignition OFF (should not be line power), Ignition ON (Should be Line side ?power?, or only when Headlamp (etc...) are turned on? I don't understand the lack of a power source to the line side of the fuse? The load side should activate when the termination (demand) is switched on? I am dead across the board regardless of load, or lack thereof... I need a "'Splanation for idiots" or " A simpletons guide to the basics of German wiring"! This car is really wired in direct lack of definition to the schematics. No Ignition Green... Nothing is as represented. I have manuals and boy the translation(s) must be atrocious! All comment, helpful or not appreciated! Thanks all!

Only see power when light switch is turned on.
Switched power (say a red wire from the gang of switched power fuses) is run to the Headlight switch. When switched, power runs through the hi/low switch in the turn signal stalk, then to the top fuse. (For low beams it is the yellow wire) For the running lights, just the headlight switch gives them power to the top fuses (grey color wires some with stripes) Yes... circuits are switched before they are fused.... Download, print and tape together this 1978 color wiring diagram, you can follow the wires easily from battery to ignition, to light switch and then the lighting fuses. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yjfoxfvwlci6lys/911_electrical_78SC_USA.pdf?dl=0

The front 8 fuses on your Carrera (starting from the front of the car) should be 1) Fog lights (optional) 15A fuse, 2) Tag lights 5A fuse, 3) Right side parking lights 5A fuse, 4) Left side parking lights 5A fuse, 5) Right headlight low beam 8A fuse, 6) Left headlight low beam 8A fuse, 7) Right headlight high beam 8A fuse and 8) Left headlight high beam 8A fuse. Hope this helps.

Hey thank you both, Timmy2, and Fred cook, fr the great assistance. I will delve into the operations as soon as I =get home and back to the project tonight! Will keep all posted. The headlight high beam fuse is not there, and Line side test dead, w=even with HL switch ON... Frustrating, synonymous with Porsche! 1986 911 Cab Thanks, this forum is beyond terrific !
