Help with tire recommendations 6 & 7 x16

I'm switching to 16 inch fuchs and I'm struggling with tire sizing. I'm looking for a summer performance tire. I also don't want to screw up the accuracy of my speedo so I was hoping for a 185 but that is proving to be a problem. I have always liked the appearance of the Toyo proxies and the Yokohama Neova ADO8R but that forces me in to a 205/50 R16 for the front and 225/50 R16 for the rear.

Thanks

David

asking about the height/aspect ration/"???" as that's necessary to determine stock diameter and recommend an equivalent diameter size in a 16" (which is key to speedo consistency)

What size tires/brand is everyone else using and how inaccurate is their speedo?

OEM sizes for a 911 (sc, carrera) for those wheels was 205/55-16 and 225/50-16. Lots of choices available at tirerack for instance.

Brands, compounds (sticky? all seasons?) would really depend on your use and propensity to thrash the car. Sticky is fun.

Harpo -- speedo is calibrated to the outer diameter of your tire (wheel diameter + actual tire height) -- believe that different factory tire/wheel options had different tire diameters and therefore had different speedometer calibrations - hence my question of what tires/wheels you're currently running (and/or the sticker in your engine bay specifies)

My '86 targa was delivered with (and I still use) 205/55-16 up front and 225/50-16 in the rear (speedo reads rear wheel rotation) -- my speedometer is (and has always been for me) around 5 miles per hour optimistic, which I understand is pretty normal -- see https://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/culture/commuting/why-you-may-not-be-driving-as-fast-as-you-think/article11487709/

A 225/50-16 tire has an approximate diameter of 24.86 inches

See you're in MI -- keep in mind that summer tires generally behave quite poorly (get very stiff/lose traction) when outside temps get into the 40s (f) and that track-centric streetable tires (e.g. Yoko AO52) can actually be damaged if STORED in such temperatures.

Because I have headers I have no heat. I have no plans to ever drive in 40 degree temperature so I'm leaning towards a sticky tire

I went with the Michelin Pilot AS4 for my 79' SC. 205/55 R16 in the front and 225/50 R16 in the back. Down here in SW Florida the rain can come out of nowhere so I sacrificed extra sticky summer performance tires and instead went with the all season tires. I'll never see snow but rain is definite! I won't be picking up the car until next week so I can't comment on how they feel yet but I know those summer performance tires are absolutely terrible in the rain.

The Firestone Indy 500 comes in original sizing, it's a Bridgestone in Firestone branding.
205/55/16; 225/50/16

I'm happy with the Bridgestone Potenza RE71R on mine. Good sticky performance tire. I got caught in the rain once in them and it wasn't too bad, I just took it slow in the corners. I don't have many miles on them but they are almost 6 years old so will likely be replaced later this year. They are good tires, but I'm leaning toward either Michelin Pilots or Continental ExtremeContact for the next set.

I'm running Direzza ZIII for both street and track use on the same size wheels. I'm happy with them.

I've run them as cold as right above freezing.
