TTS Part Number Confusion

I have a 1983SC. Thermo Time Switch correct part number is listed on many websites as 911617117-00. I purchased another one and received part number 911617117-01. At least that was what the part number on the box said.

Some websites show a superseded part number 911617117-01.

I find this suspect for a few reasons.

The first is that about half the websites I check show the
-01 part as correct up to 1979SC or will work for 930 turbo, but will not work on a 1983SC. A few websites say the -01 will work on the 83SC.

The second is my old original (which has failed after 37 years) has the part number VDO 91761711700 stamped into it. The new one does not have a part number on it and was made by SZA. Also not all the specs stamped on the new one are the same as the original.

And it does not look the same. Note the white (it used to be white) vs black insulators in the pic. Many websites show the black insulator one is for the turbo 930.

Does anyone know if the part I received in the pic is a -01 and if so will it work on a 1983SC, or should I return it? I am ok with keeping it if it functions exactly as it should. Lots of conflicting info on the web about whether the -01 will work on an 83SC.

Thanks

Short version. Can anyone confirm if the black topped TTS in the picture will work as it should on an 83SC?

I can't confirm anything, but it is a very good bet that this new part will work. It is designed to fit and do the job - note the two different sized round head connections, so you don't get wires mixed up. If it works at a slightly different temperature than your old one, so what? We aren't talking critical temperatures here.

Thanks for your reply. I figured it would work ok but for what these things cost ($200+)
I want to get the white one if its not too hard to come by. If the OEM is not available anymore the black one might be the next best thing available.

I returned the black one today before I saw your post and they said they would exchange it.
We will see how that goes.

Regards
