Question 9volt DC output under dash

Found a 9v DC power outlet under the dash on my '83 911SC? What is this for?

It was not something that came from the factory. Likely some aftermarket device like a GPS or some other gizmo.

believe the original generation passport radar detectors required 9v power and came with a small transformer that could be used for a semi-permanent installation

Valentine 1 as well I believe

There has to be a small transformer somewhere to step down the voltage. What’s the box look like?

Could also be a 'memory saver' for when you have to remove the battery ?

No. The original Valentine 1 required 11.0-16.0 volts DC. The new Valentine 1 Gen2 requires 6.0-35.0 Volts DC.

Wow, so it will work in a 6 volt car or a 24 volt car or up to 35 volts? Amazing range of voltage.
