RSR Vs 930 Turbo Flare
Are the Front fender flares the same width on RSR flare as on a 930 Turbo front?

Thanks for chiming in Bill. The reason I ask is a recently purchased 9x17 ET 16
Linea Corsa rims. They seem to stick out a half inch to far on my 930 flare. I am running 930 brakes with solid rotors. |

the stock wheel for a 930 front was 7ET23.3 it has a f/s of 2.93" your 9 has a f/s of ~4.22" probably a tad more depending in the flange design, so it sticks out ~1.3" more than the oe A common fit is 8ET10.6 w/ 3.93" f/s a 9 w/ 3.93" f/s has ET 24 all of the above is for wheels using the stock 930 spacer or from '80 up stock 930 hubs

So, the Linea Corsa 9x17 ET 16 is designed for a Carrera brake setup on fronts with RSR or 930 flares?

here's a typical SC w/ 930 flare 9" front ET17+4mm spacer +255/40x17 tire or ET21 no spacer or anywhere in between, ie 1, 2 or 3mm spacers I've also seen as aggressive as 9ET11, but the more aggressive the ET(lower numerically) the more limited the tires and ride height and alignment specs

9" ET15 wheels will fit on the front of 930 and the post-1980 SC/Carreras that have the wider front hub.

I just went thru this in terms of fitting a new front bumper. Even though the car (as bought) was presented to me as an RSR clone (on a 77 chassis) The bumpers turned out to be 930 flares. However, i had already ordered a RSR bumper from Dave at TRE. No fitzky at all. Its about 2-2.5 inches too wide. I had to cut out that amount from the middle of the bumper, glass it all up and repaint.. ugh. The RSR are definitly wider than the 930 flares at the point at which that they touch the front bumper as Fred says. The wideness in the middle of the fender seems to be the same. The 930 fender just tapers in as it joins the bumper whereas the RSR fender drops straight down to that point. Just trying to save someone else the headache. see pics. RSR bumper is yellow before cutting and refinishing. the white car is true RSR fender and Bumper. You can see the difference in fender taper.

The 2.8RSR, Carrera 3.0 RS and 930 all have what are called 9" flairs which were 2" wider than the fenders on 2.7 Carrera RS or other n/b 911 the 2.8RSR used 9 ET3 wheels w/ stock 911 hubs, Carrera 3.0 came w/ 8 ET10.6 fronts & 911 hubs, 3.0 RSR used 10.5" fronts and 911 hubs and 930s used 7ET23.3 fronts(thru'80 there were 911 hubs and a separate 21mm spacer from '80 on 930 used special 930 hubs which incorporated the spacer into the hub itself) I'm still not sure what the op has for hubs

Bill I have the 930 hubs that have the spacer incorporated. I do not have the floating rotors and hats. I will be purchasing the 71-73 RSR Fiberglass fenders.

w/ '73 2.8RSR fenders and the late 930 hubs a 9 ET18 will the same as a 9ET3 w/ 911 hubs
There is a little wiggle room for a more aggressive (lower numerical ET)or less aggressive (higher ET numerical) fit You also need to be aware of the fact that the f/g fenders on the market can vary quite a bit in quality and size and installation can further vary the fit. If I were embarking on this project I'd install the fenders then measure from a known wheel like a 7ET23.3, 8 ET10.6 or 9 ET15 that you probably already have to determine where the wheel will need to be on your car.

Thanks Bill, I will do that once I purchase the Fiberglass 2.8 RSR fenders. Today I will take a measurement of the 930 flare outside edge to body of car and see exactly what that measurement is. To anyone who has the RSR Fiberglass fenders installed already I would appreciate that measurement. There might be differences in width between TRE, GT Racing, ect...

Here's my measurement of steel 930 flare of 13 inches in width. Also a picture of Linea Corsa 9x17 ET 16 on car with 930 Turbo solid hub brakes ( not floating hats). I believe Bill is right that the Linea Corsa 9x17s fronts are designed for SC or Carrera brake hubs with RSR or 930 Turbo flare.

Thank you Bill V. that likely solves it. Slant, are you measuring the fender width from the seam at the hood? also since we are doing this exercise, is there a place inside the wheel well to use as a reference point to measure how far the hub extends ? ( with or without the spacer) . I am not sure what type of hubs i have now, and I am switching back and forth between big ass floating rotors/BREMBO calipers to 930 brakes and smaller rotors so that I can race in both PCA Club ( allows 17 inch wheels) and SVRA / HSR ( only 16inch wheels allowed) . definitly PIA....

Yes, my measurement is from the edge of fender seam and hood and vertical of center of hub.
