Diff ID

I think this is a LS diff out of a street G50. Can anyone confirm that or identify it. Thanks, Bob

GKN LSD for 993 or later. It has the part number stamped in the side. It could be any number of specifications.

#s on the side would look like this

if it's a 993 GKN the spec is either 22/40 unless it's from a 993RS trans

22/40 ramps look like this

22/40 part # 950.332.083.00 or .03

Actually there are more options than that.

950.332.083.02 25/65% G50.20/21 95+
950.332.083.03 22/40% G6420/21
950.332.083.38 40/65% G50.30/31/32

My PET didn't show the .00 so I just took your info at face value. I googled it and got no results so just assumed you were right on that one. I've just edited it out for clarity.

The break from ZF to GKN has always been hazy to me. They never offered a gearbox number break for the change like they did with the slide on 2nd gears.

I was told that this diff was for a street G50/1, a 3.2 car. I have old eyes, but I don't see any script on the side of the housing. Just the cap. Bob

If it's from a G50/01 then it's a 40/40 ZF 950.332.053.06

You were told wrong. Porsche used ZF for all of the 3.2s and 964s, and that is 100% a GKN LSD.

These ramps are 26/65 and will be stamped 7&8 on one of the 4 ears that ride in the housing. I've got a list of most of them somewhere, but every set of pressure rings has a sequential pair of numbers on them indicating the ramps cut into them.
