I think you're going to massively undershoot your weight goal. My 85 coupe (The "Rot Rod") is 2335 pounds and it still has a sunroof and power windows.

It does have euro crush tubes, AC delete, light seats, RS carpet and a lot of "deletes". Including every single spare and/or unused wire, black box, switch, solenoid, button, etc. I removed 18 pounds of wiring and misc electrical bits and bobs no longer required. Including the brake pad wear indicators, the seat belt contacts, the buzzer, the FM antenna amp, all the mirror wiring, etc. and the power locks. Oh and a non-functioning factory alarm, cruise, AC, center console, the list went on and on.

These are simple cars and the wiring diagrams in the Bentley manual are surprisingly useful for chasing down unused wires.

I say all this because in this pic it looks like you've tied back a bunch of stuff that could be deleted...

Yes, that's an Amp & speaker wire bundle. I want to remove it, but can't bring myself to cut the factory wiring harness (although, the original speaker connectors were previously cut off).

Progress continues to be slower than I'd like, but then again, I've been working on my friend's 1986 491 Targa and driving my other two. So, there are worse reasons for my slow progress.

After more than 2.5 years in body / paint, upholstery and PPF shops (thankfully the bodyshop is directly across the street from Upholsterer and PPF shops as the car bounced back & forth between bodyshop & Upholsterer twice) she made it back home this past March...

My perch from which to contemplate wiring / fusebox work and an eventual Classic Retrofit blade fusebox upgrade...

Even tho there was more pressing work to be done, I took a quick detour for a 9/11 clock face (thanks to John Bell for continuing to indulge me!).

My clocks end up being purely aesthetic as I pull fuse #4 on all my cars and the clocks are right two times a day. Although, I'd argue that, being set to 9:11, that they've always right ..

A new toy arrived and, of course, we had to play with it, which means we weighed all the cars in the garage, including Vents w/o lights, gas tank, spare tire, tools, seats, rear bumper, trim, etc., but for a shining moment, she was within spitting distance of 2,200 pounds...

The last step prior to hoisting her up was washing the year+ of Bondo dust out of the engine compartment and frunk. Finally tho, she made it into the air. Next step is to rebuild / refresh / replace the brakes & suspension, and replace the front fuel lines and engine fuel lines, etc., before reassembling everything. She's literally been put on a pedestal...

Next order of business was to evacuate the brake fluid (thank you Mityvac vacuum bleeder) pull the calipers and dispatch them for refurbishment.

I've decided to replace the front fuel lines on all of my cars and the '86 Targa currently under my care. So, I Dremeled the ferrules off of this set of lines and I'm sending them out to be re-hosed...

Safety first...

Fun every second...

Thirty-six year old fuel lines from May of 1988...

Progress (or, at least, movement)!

I'm definitely guilty for the slow progress, but I blame it on acquiring Apollo, the other white M491, in February of 2024. Ive been driving and playing with that while Vents just sat, all forlorn. Well, Apollo is heading to Park City for the Summer and Fall, so progress on Vents should accelerate. There has been some movement tho...

Calipers are back from PMB, along with a rotor, pad and line bundle / meal deal...

This outer front wheel bearing has DEFINITELY seen better days. Hecho en Mexico!

Old ball joint grease and bondo sanding dust. Nasty combo...

These toys have been sitting on the shelf for a LONG time. Which is good and bad. KWs are the plated versions but I paid a lot less for them in 2021.

Wow, what an update! This is looking really, really great!

I feel like we talked about this before... somehow I feel like I should put your name on one of these

Target weight is 1.95kg/4.3lbs, and it's built like a brick S&^%house:

Yessir. Please and thank you!

This is my kinda scope creep!

That being said, I'm kinda feeling like, aesthetically, Vents may need a wing to differentiate itself from Apollo (as seen at Laguna last year)...

Problem is, the wing would need to be lightweight too, so as not to run afoul of my weight goal.

Maybe put a Carrera wing on Apollo, and a flat deck on Vents?

We have a base developed for the 930 that you could use on your M491. I believe the Carrera, whale tail and turbo tail rubber will all bolt onto the base. We have a composite turbo tail dam that replaces the heavy rubber one that is in the final stages of testing as well. The base pictured went to Porsche Classic, those sold to the public will not have the logo.

HOT DAMN!

I was under the impression that tea-tray and Carrera tail bases were different?

They are - the Turbo base is big enough to hide the intercooler on the later turbo (early non-intercooled Turbo wing didn't need to provide this amenity).

The bases are different but I believe the rubber dams can be made to fit. I've seen whale tail dams on turbo tail bases for example. Don't know what the effort was to do that. For the M491 it doesn't matter as they use the turbo tail.
