Absolutely stunning.. seems like you could do something with those screws on the door panels though.

Thanks Chris for the compliment. As soon as i finish buttoning up the dash, i will post dash photos. We are hoping to finish up with the dash this week. Welcome to the Pelican forums.
PS I jumped in the car early this morning, left the wifey with her coffee, and drove into the mountains for an hour long run. Absolutely wonderful solitary drive with the new car! It is looking very much like it was worth all the time, money and challenges along the way. Thanks, greg |

For example, does it idle steadily ?
Curious technical types that live in this forum might be interested in learning how well the 80 era CIS works here given this is not a common mix of tech .... care to post a vid of how it runs ? Last edited by pmax; 03-27-2021 at 06:00 PM.. |

Yes it idles very steadily at 750 RPM. Accelerates like a beast through the gears and runs at a steady highway speed very well all day long. It runs beautifully. At the end of my robust 1 hour mountain drive this morning, when I got off the highway and rolled to a stop, the engine quieted right down to the baseline 750RPM. I was happy to see that.
I know CIS has its critics, but it is working beautifully on the engine. And i was really constrained by the CA emissions and DMV rules. BTW, for my new 911 T project, I today bought a Motronic injection system. I toyed with an MFI system but choked on the price, old technology, etc. and my mechanic strongly favored the Motronic. My mechanic was negative on carburation, and ITB's in terms of the value for the dollar. I have Motronic on my 85 cab and that car has always run beautifully. So, my T will be a 3.0L with all the take-off parts from my SC project car (crank, rods, cams, pistons and sleeves, calipers, etc.) and will have the benefit of a Motronic system. It should be a nice set up in that little light weight car. |

Very cool. CIS has its critics for sure but it surely proves its capability here. Running clean under low load conditions is always good. Thanks for sharing.

Top tier backdate build in my opinion. The guys from BAT are bouncing off the walls hoping they get this one!

I am working on finishing up the dash and will post dash photos when that is completed. We are checking and clearing for faults in the 993 CCU. The engine compartment heater blower bearing has started to make periodic noise so I've ordered a new motor and will replace that. Then I'll post a video of the car at idle as some have requested. Thx
Trying to keep it to "tech talk" here! |
