Hello the board,
I have a big money question (for me) !! I own an original 68 2.0 T (SWB) since a year now. During the last club event I had a cylinder problem : my car was running on 5 cylinders (N° 6 off). After an oil replacement and a carburator tuning at the specialist workshop, there is the evidence : I hage a bent valve on Cylinder 6. Compressions were 10 for cylinders 1 to 5 and 7 for cylinder 6. From there, in Paris, the refection is up to $1300. ![]() The car still runs quite great, but with strange noise when cold, and with some pop-off at deceleration. I have the opportunity to buy a brand new (not rebuilt, new) 2.0T engine (complete with no carbs) for $1500. (History : engine offered by Porsche to a french mechanic school for carb tuning lessons (3hours a year) and well-stored since 1997) I am then considering to plug the new engine with my (clean) Webber carbs. My question is : What to do with the old engine block ? Sell it in parts ? Sell it as an entire block ? keep it for parts (have a new engine) I would like to sell it to reduce the engine transplant cost. What parts are the most easy to sell, and how much ??? Many thanks Dooop |

THat's the original engine to your car?
I'd say if you have room keep the extra engine it could be worth alot when you go to sell your car. The extra block sounds like a nice deal.

I would keep it just because the next person who buys your car maybe looking for originality.

I'd put in the new engine and keep the original if possible. That's exactly what I did with my Vette.
