I don't think I hung my Muffler correctly, please advise

Good Afternoon Pelicaners! So it looks as though my attempt to install the CAT bypass and muffler is incorrect. The Bypass is fine but I'm not sure where I went wrong on the muffler. Can anyone tell from the two photos below what I did wrong and offer some instructions on how to do it correctly please? The strap is twisted and it cant possibly be the way it's supposed to go on. Thanks as always.

I believe that muffler is for a 87-89 Carrera with a G50. The crossover tube would fit in the recessed area. Your Garage shows a 79 SC so you have the wrong muffler.

Looks correct to me, just make sure strap is torqued down good. That is a Carrera muffler. I also have a Carrera muffler on my SC and it fits/works perfect

New muffler and straps as well? Hard to tell from the picture, but is your issue that the straps won't tighten the muffler all the way? I can't really see the twist you mention.

When I installed a M&K muffler I had issues with the straps being too large. I found that our local NAPA carries a good selection of stainless steel clamps (Breeze USA Mfg). Took a few different sizes, but finally got it all high and tight.

I did end up rotating the clamps behind the valance as they rubbed on my steep driveway.

Muffler bracket........

Tommy,

Loosen the straps and bolts of the muffler and re-position the rib of the muffler as indicated by Ivan over the muffler bracket or hanger. You got the later Carrera muffler that fits well on SC motors. I use these mufflers for my SC’s too.

Ahhh. Thanks Ivan and Tony! I see it now. Thanks all! Yes it's an aftermarket muffler, Dansk I think and I bought it second hand and I know it was used for a couplie of years on an SC.
