Crane FireBall Ignition Wiring Issue (Same as MSD)

Bottom line I need a good "Key On" power source. I wired this up last summer and decided to go direct to the battery with a toggle switch. It works but I don't like it. The idea was that I'd find a better place to wire it at some point. Well, some point is now.

Question, according to a write up here on Pelican, it says the best place is where the stock CD box gets it power.

The thinner red wire needs to be connected to a switched voltage source. The best place to do this is to tap into the electrical connector that used to go to the CD box. Peel back the rubber insulation, and underneath you should find a red wire. Tap the thin red wire from the MSD unit into the red wire that comes into the CD box connector. It's a wise idea to use some male spade connectors and plug right into the CD box connector so that you don't destroy the wiring or the connector.

Does an '88 Carrera come with a CD box stock like they're talking about? If so where is this power source? If the power came from the DME, that won't be an option, I don't have one.

If my car originally had a CD box, it was gone when I got the car.

I tried a few power sources up front but those only provided power "key on", but not during cranking
