Just finishing the build of 3.4: Mahle 98mm, Xtreme CNC’d heads, MK Long tube headers, Sal’s MAF, bored TB, supertec, ARP, 964 cams and Andial extrude honed intake (last 2 were on the original euro 3.2 with an authority MAF and chip and the car was very fast). Car should be finished by October...curious to see what the dyno shows once broken in

Interesting, I'm doing a similar build but am using a 964 crank.
Did you upgrade your fuel injectors to do the conversion to 3.4? Is it considered necessary?

No, keep stock. I should say that I'm doing this renovation together with my mechanic, so I have a helping hand on side here.

I hate seeing gorgeous engines because I'm usually happy with my dirty one...

Can you talk about more about the 991 GT3 exhaust decision? How does it compare in terms of noise and weight compared to stock? I have a 3.0 lying around that I'll need a muffler for...I was going to use a stock Bischoff, but the idea of having a switchable quiet/loud muffler instead of a not-too-loud muffler is compelling. I was gonna get SSIs, but it seems your headers are on the custom side...?

Steve told me to keep stock injectors and that 75% of the 3.45litre motors he has tuned, worked fine on them. His website also suggests that the limit of the stock injectors is 250hp. I'm assuming he means wheel horsepower.

Time will tell.

This isn't quite what you are after, but I ran a 997 GT3 muffler on my 3.0 with itbs, big cams and headers. This is only using the quiet ports...

Is it possible to get an update on how the car has changed since you've had a the mods a few months ago. Did I read that you daily drive this?

Also, did you convert to MAF or keep the speed density?

I want to keep the car reasonably stock since it's a Targa and a daily driver, but if I anyway will be I'll be in the market for a new cylinder+piston set, I'm currently trying to decide whether I should keep the engine stock 3.2 with a set of Nickies, or I should bite the bullet and go the 3.4L conversion with the Mahle kit?

The car will be fitted with a 997 GT3 muffler + rarelyl8 long tubed heat exchangers, so there should be plenty of air.

My options:

Option 1: Keep motronic + single plug + Steve Wong chip + 964 cams + ARP hardware + AASCO springs + 95mm Nickies with EU/ROW compression

Option 2: Keep motronic + single plug + Steve Wong chip + 964 cams + ARP hardware + AASCO springs + 98mm Mahle kit 3.4L conversion

What would you do and why?

I appreciate your input!

/k

Doing almost the exact same improvements...was there ever an outcome to all of this?

Erik
