Re-keying / fixing 911 SC ignition switch

Hi.

The ignition switch in my 911 SC works well but the key can be removed / taken out of the switch when the car is on / running. Have any of you folks had this happened to your car and if so how did you remedy it?

Cheers

I went to the Porsche dealer in town and they looked at the SC's VIN then cut me a key off the computer. It works well.

Better than a copy of a copy. Which will only damage the lock internals.

Mine is the same way. I've always assumed the lock was worn, and I can live with it.

First try cleaning it with some triflow or other non graphite lock lube. Your wafers and springs could be full of crud. If that doesn’t work you need to remove lock, remove tumbler and exam for wear. If tumbler lock housing is good add new wafers, springs, key.
Wafers/available on eBay.
