Smokin engine

1976 targa sportomatic.

The car has been in a garage for 6 years and without too much problems I have got it running, however when I first got it running within 20 seconds clouds of white smoke would come out of the exhaust and through the heater vent , only on the right hand vent.
Now it takes about 4-5 mins and the same thing happens. The engine sounds solid with no knocks or rattles.
The oil pressure guage reads midway at about 60 but the other oil gauge starts at midway and then within 1 minute goes up to the top.

Could it be a vent or oil pressure relief valve?

Any thought would be appreciated.

If oil level is showing full then you are way over filled and that is why it is smoking.

Oil level is checked when engine is fully warmed up from a long cruise, while engine is running and parked on level ground. Shoot for 1/2 way on the dipstick.
Maybe drain a few quarts….

This, totally ignore the oil level gauge and the dipstick until the engine is up to full operating temp, and then with the car at idle for a minute, on LEVEL ground, check the oil level. And between the lines on the dip stick is full! Don't fill to the top mark.

You are likely way over full, and oil is sucked from the oil tank breather right into the intake.

Had this happen to me. Whenever you leave a 911 for a long time - months - then the car will blow smoke. It just takes 10 -20 mins to burn it all off. I do not have the correct technical description but it not an issue.

Thanks for the comments and sorry for the delay in replying I had the wheels away for painting and only got them back on Friday anyway I have driven it around for 50 odd miles and all the smoking has stopped, however the car has developed a new problem with the car not going into gear but I will put that in a new post.
