Tips on testing the clock?
My clock doesn't work. I've busted out the multimeter and I have 10.5v coming from the harness. I'd like to test the clock on a battery. Any tips on how? I could grab any 12v battery, but I'm worried about overvolting if the clock is actually good.

When bench testing I use either an old PC power supply or my Milwaukee M12 batteries.

Thanks, Dmitry. I'd seen the "How-to" article, but it's frankly not very helpful. Lots of flowery language and discussion of buying his wife earrings (?) and maybe some waxing about his experience fixing a clock, but not testing the clock at all. If I'm not mistaken, it also is discussing a mechanical clock assembly, not the quartz "movements" in the later G-bodies. I should have been more specific in my post, admittedly.
I'll check out the other threads. Didn't see them when I searched. |

Checking you clock
On a 911 1970.
You can remove your clock Clock is made for 12v Earth body on - pole of the battery and set Plus pole to where your voltage cable should go. If you use a testprobe (or similar) as below, you can pulse 12v on the clock. ![]() |

12 volts is 12 volts. As others have said, no worry about connecting the clock directly to the car battery or any other 12v DC source. Watch your polarity, though.
