3.2 Air Filter Clip - Any Tips?

How do you get the back, lower air filter clip re-attached?

I changed the air filter and got three clips re-attached. I can't get my hand behind te air box to clip the last one.

This is an OEM air box on a 1985 Carrera with a stock 3.2 engine.

Thank in advance.

Lawrence

You can re-attach it easily ; but you should try to do that with your left hand BEHIND the airbox , and on its left side.

To make it easier I bent the clip a bit to take some of the tension out of it. So now I can manipulate it with just the tips of my fingers. It still fits snug and requires less cursing. Ken

I loosen the AFM assembly temporarily as i could move the aibox just enough to clip the rear brackets ...

Cheers!

I've pushed it home with a long 3/8 extension from the left. It's a pain. I don't even know why they put clips there in the first place.

a lot of swearing and it will eventually clip. i tried as some have stated to put a zip wrap on the clip but i ended up ripping the zip wrap. you will end up with some feeling loss on your finger. i'll try the making it less tight as one has suggested next time.

Thinner arms make a big difference. Get your wife or GF to do it for you.

3.2 air filter clip

I ran a wire thru the clip and when the other clip is in place, just pull on the wire.

Or you can mod it buy cutting the top end portion of the cover off. Easy Peasy to apply the clips and easy access to the oil filter and refill of oil if you do not have a funnel handy.

Side effects: louder exhaust at upper RPMS

Whoa, is that a PAG SST?

Now I found a reason to have a kid, but how do you keep them small to get back there and fit their arms between the manifolds?

Jim

Be very gentle on the airbox, as has been stated. Attach all 4 clips each time.

I remove the air compressor bolts and place it on top of the right side manifold. It's the hoses that are in the way. This will open up plenty of room to get to the clip. Takes about 20 mins to do this and put it back plus retighten the belt. Worth it, imo.

Please forgive the Hi-Jack, but you guys with OEM Air Boxes.

Do you have the Wierd "STOP" aka Air Cleaner Cap connected to the nipple in the rear, if so what is your Breather Hose doing, just flopping loose?
