Access to Shifter

Shifter is a little sloppy and the linkage seems loose. I need to adjust it but I need to know the best way to access the 3rd screw that holds the console in place directly in front of the e brake. Do I need to cut thru the carpet or is there another way?

Just carefully pull it back from the top and tuck the carpet back under when you install the console again. Easy peasy.
