4 speed parts issue questions
I have ordered dog teeth for a 912 ( 901/02) 7/65.
The parts are 101 550 315. Pelican inform me it's for a 5 SPD and will not fit a 4 SPD They have no parts for a 4Spd I'm after second. Third and fourth dog teeth. Is it the correct part or am I in trouble. Thanks lyndon ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Lyndon302; 10-05-2021 at 02:49 PM.. |

They are wrong, but in the process you dodged a bullet. Don’t get the German oem ones. They lack backcut. Get Rausch and Spiegle.

The backcut accounts for the curvature of the synchro ring, allowing it to properly sit inside the teeth. The German ones are square cut and pinch the synchro when you install it, making it too small, and unable to grab the operating sleeve with enough friction when you select a gear.

The 901/902/911 and 914 gearboxes are nearly all the same internally. A 4 speed box is the same as a 5 speed box but with "first" gear missing and the gear ratios shuffled. The mainshaft is the key. A 4 speed with have the fixed gear as A (first gear), while the 5 speeds generally have the fixed gear as F or GA (2nd gear). Essentially these are 4 speed boxes with the additional gear tacked on with the reverse gear; both of which are outside of the intermediate plate in the cover section.

I've been in touch with the manufacturer in Colorado.
Of interest the 4spd has a unique 1st gear The dog teeth are different the 5 SPD. It rotates in the opposite direction. So it's a different part All others the same as the 5 SPD Of course this part is out stock ?? ( 1st ) Lyndon |
