Keyless Entry Parking Light Flash vs Hazard Flash
Technical Question for the electrical Pelican gurus.
Can I hook up the parking light flash wire from my Amazon keyless entry to the turn signal fuse? Now for the details... Using this unit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002FYEG8Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 on my 1987 targa with 155k miles, stock ceramic fuse block and factory power door locks with central locking module in the center console. Currently have the parking light flash wire from the keyless unit split into 2 wires with 3AMP50V rectifier diodes feeding the Left and the Right parking light circuits (circuit 18 and 19 with factory 5amp fuse each side) via the bottom of each circuits' fuse block. My understanding is the diodes ensure the electrical pulse from the keyless unit flows in only one direction when split into the Left and Right parking light circuit. I followed previously posted instructions here when I wired in this unit and everything is working fine. In an effort to get a brighter flash, I'd like to use circuit 11 (factory 16amp fuse)-Indicator Lights and Reversing lights-as the flash feature on the keyless entry. Concern would be the wattage difference between parking lights and indicator with reversing lights. Parking light total wattage-40 Indicator & Reversing light total wattage-126 Any fire hazard concern? Melting wires? Blow up something further down the line that is more difficult to replace than a fuse? I'd prefer the flash to be just the indicator lights but Porsche didn't build the circuit that way. Separate fuse/circuit for left front and right front indicator that does NOT include the rear indicator. Circuit 11 ties in front and rear, left and right indicator lights along with the reversing lights. |
