fuchs refinishing options
The fuchs on my 86 930 are quite pitted and I'm looking into getting them refinished. How do I tell if they are chrome from the factory or polished somewhere along the way by a previous owner? Can something that was once chrome be polsihed? Should I go back to the chrome if that is what I have, or polished and left bare, or polished and cleracoated?
Pros/cons? Thanks |

Factory finish on your 911 was anodized around the rim and the rest was black. Hopefully yours are not chromed, but just polished. If you see pitting or flaking they are chrome. If you can take a bit of aluminum polish and make an area shiny again they are probably just polished out. At this point in time I normally use a pic of Mark Wilson's car to show some nice polished Fuchs, but I just happen to have a picture of my '86 with Al Reed polished Fuchs with a clear powder coating on them.

Here's an idea.. since you probably have deep dish wheels in the back. Take a look through the RGruppe pics and dig those anodized wheels on the RS's and RS clones. Very badass!
