Window Frame Sealant

Can anyone recommended a non hardening sealant for the small gaps between door and window frame?

I recently removed both my window frames to allow better access for a paintless dent repair technician. He did a splendid job of removing a couple of minor dings on the door skin, and I have now refitted them window frames.

I have seen suggestions to use non hardening windscreen sealer, but my experience of this is that it stays too soft and smears when washing the car. Others have suggested Dum Dum, but this hasn’t been available for years now.

That strip caulk that Dennis posted looks like it would do the trick. Isn’t Dum Dum essentially the same thing as plumbers puddy ?

Plumbers putty is linseed oil based. the strip caulk is butyl rubber, thats what i have used on the window frames, i put a bit around the holes the lower outside trim strip clips into also. If you buy the box you can use it to seal fenders too.

I’ve used it for 30 years on my own cars. Not at all like plumbers putty.
It is the same as “Dum Dum”….

As others mentioned, dum dum putty would work. I used the fender sealing tape. Just put Porsche 911 fender sealing tape in a search bar and you'll find the stuff. You can also search Terostat Ribbon or Terostat Tape. It comes in a roll.

Try Amazon, search for "15FT Butyl Rope Butyl Rubber Sealant Tape" there are lots of comparables.

I've had a roll for over 25 years now, still good. Used on many cars, boats, houses, etc. Still have most of the roll left!
