Another unknown wire question

Im cleaning the engine area and decided to remove the rear relay / fuse panel to do it right. Under the aluminum panel with the holes were three wires taped together. Theres a white with black stripe, Blue or black and a brown. They werent connected to anything but join back into the harness. Car is an 83 ROW cab so never had a rear defrost but would the factory put wiring there anyway? The only relay is for the heater blower.

Those are the rear defrost wires. In every harness.

Thanks for confirming. Thats what I thought they might be. I know the Cabs were a rush job in 83 but the P-engineers never seemed phased to make unique changes as needed.

They ran all of the normal option wires in the main common harnesses. I’m sure the wires for the rear defroster switch are behind the dash.

In that era Porsche was not making much money. The 911 was not given any budget for designs and upgrades. It was planned to be discontinued and the 928 was to be the replacement. Not until Peter Schutz took the helm did the 911 get money for upgrades and fixes, and an indefinite lifespan.
