SC sump plate/update question:

Hey gang, this is what came w/ my car, a 1982 SC, I know that the plate is stock but I have been told that the screen is incorrect, or more specifically, is not the one for this plate. I want to keep the stock plate if possible for the drain plug, which screen should I have? TIA.

It looks like the updated venturi sump screen, which is what you want. The venturi screen can be used with the sump plate with the drain plug. There is a Pelican compeditor with a fancy catalog that said you needed a new sump plate, but you dont. The sump plate they say you need with the screen does not have a drain plug. The venturi sump screen is very hard to find for the owners of the early SC's that have not been updated. Porsche lists them as NLA, thus owners trying to update have a hard time finding one.
I put the venturi screen and sump plate with the drain plug on my '78 SC, and it works fine.

One last thing make shure the drain plug does not block the pick up tube. The drain plug goes to one side. When you put the plate up to the screen you'll be able to see what I'm talking about

Thanks, Tops. I've been carrying that thing around all day showing it to various Porsche people, and they all said that it was the one that you want to have. This board is great, I knew about the update in 1980, but didn't know if this was it.
