Electronics Help (CDI) 3 Pin

Hello,

I built a simple DIY CDI a while back and after doing some research I saw even the early BOSCH 3 pin CDI is much much more complex. I considered making a BOSCH 3 pin as it's proven and the added complication has to have significant advantages. After studying it a bit as far as I can tell the trigger circuit would not have enough current flow to switch on an SCR capable of handling the current of a strong CDI. I am specifically interested in the trigger circuit of the bosch CDI as I am happy with my power supply. Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

Actually, that's not the case, i.e. the trigger circuit of the Bosch CDI is properly designed to "fire" the SCR (Thyristor).
