Dumb Question; how do you get the kneepad off?

Subject says it. I don't see how to get the kneepad off. I see a screw at each end underneath. If I take these out it won't budge and I see no more screws.

not the most serious problem, but an annoying one

thx,
todd

I had the same problem with my 914, it wouldn't budge. The 914 has a screw on each side and several on the bottom. I removed those.

Turns out it was REALLY stuck. It took some strength and it came loose. Seems it was partially glued in the middle.

Good luck!

Karl

There is a nut that is only accessible if you remove the outer ac louver. There is 2 nuts on each side, left and right.
Good luck,

These are the only 2 fixings - undo the 2 nuts on each & they should then just pull off:

On my 89, I recall there is one screw and two nuts. The screw is clearly visible on the outside end. A nut is inside the dash (the knee bar has a stud that enters a hole in the lower dash and is secured by the nut). You cannot see it, but poke your fingers up and into the area of the dash that is just forward (front of car) from the knee bar, a little inbound from the outer AC vent. I think it is a 8mm or 9mm nut. You can remove the nut by reaching up and in, but the manual recommends removing the AC vent for better access. The vent has hinged springloaded clips at the top (and bottom, depending on year) inside surfaces, you lift on them to release and then pull out the vent. The second nut is similar but near the center of the car. You can remove this one without having to remove any vent or other object.
