New AC and Stalling Issue Solved

I recently installed new AC components from Griffith's, including new compressor, blower motor, evaporator, barrier hoses and TEV . The car originally had factory air but I've had it out for about 25 years. My wife said she would no longer go on any extended trips in the car without AC so that was my motivation. I did as much of the work myself and then had a shop do the final hookup and charge.

The system on a 77 includes only a rear, engine compartment condenser, which was fine back then and I'm hoping will be OK where I live, in Toronto. Before I bought the car in 89 it had lived in Atlanta and Gainesville, Florida.

The only issue I had was that the engine, which is an enlarged 3 to 3.2L with CIS but without lambda control, wanted to stall after revving unless the idle speed was about 1800 rpm. Without any electronic control I have no idle control valve.

The fix I tried turned out to be simple: I reconnected the decel valve and set the warm idle speed back down to 1000. The stalling is now gone and everything seems to be operating normally. The AC seems to be functioning fine. We had a bright sunny day with 85F temps and I was comfortable. The tech said he saw 45F @ the lower outlet, above the console. I'm satisfied with that, knowing I just have the one condenser.

I just wanted to get this into the database, in case someone else without a DME/ECU had a similar problem.
