G50 input shaft identification
Little help?
Been collecting factory G50 gearsets for a good long while now, hopefully I'm almost there... I have this G50 13:41 input shaft & gearset, clutch side shortened (eg for SBH). It was originally (mis)labeled as being a G50/50 input shaft - but the internal shaft is too short for that application and bearing spacing is incorrect. So I'm hoping that this would fit a G50 N/A 5 speed (like my SBH G50/01). I know there were some 13:41 shafts for the 993 RS G50/2x 6 speed, Roger of CMS already told me that these aren't what I want. Can anyone tell which this is by looking at it? In case these are anything other than batch/manufacturing marks, it is stamped "G" by the 1st gear, and scribed "35" about 90 degrees from that. Thanks for any insight! ![]()

I think you’re dealing with a shortened shaft.
![]() Far left is turbo. Just left of the tape is shortened turbo. Right of the tape is g50. I don’t have the other end of the shaft handy to give you a total length, but could get that tomorrow. If it’s not a shortened turbo shaft then it will be a G50-02, which was used in a couple cars.

I assembled and measured one this morning, and it's right around 25.5" Are you sure that's been shortened? How does it measure tip to seal compared to the shafts I posted above. It looks around 4"s similar to my short one.
What does it measure from the clutch end tip to the threads for the first nut?

Hey Matt, thanks for replying/helping.

LOL. Last transmission I actually worked on myself was 40 years ago - and not a Porsche. For the 911, I get folks who know what they're doing to work on them... I'm pretty sure it has a 13:41 gearset, because I counted the teeth. Twice ![]() It is supposed to be shortened; originally described as "shortened G50/50" (probably because of the gearset) - but a Pelican who wanted exactly that reported that it wasn't a /50 shaft, based on it being too short internally for the bigger /50 C&P/intermediate case. Seems likely they made an assumption based on the 13:41 gearset. So I bought it, as SBH G50/02 shaft exactly what I want. Not even much of a problem if it isn't shortened - although overall length seems to suggest it may be? Quote:

![]() Always happy to help when I can. That was the picture I was looking for. This is just a regular G50. Shortening takes it down by 1.1”, so yours just shy of 11” is right compared to my 12”. I agree it’s a G50/02.

That 3.154 is a nice ratio. It’s the only thing I make for stock these days.
