Engine rev range

Will rev the engine to above 6,000 rpm just before cut-off does any damage to the engine?

How high above 6K? Redline is 6200 and your rev limiter should be cutting the engine off around there. If you don't have a rev limiter and you are revving above say 7K I would start worrying about those 10mm rod bolts.

Just at 6,000 RPM. My '87 had a rev limiter. I know because it cut off the engine once. I suppose as long as the computer cut the engine off, I am safe?

Rev it all of the way up. These engines were designed for it. You have a rev limiter, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I drive my car 5 or 6 days a week, at least, and I go to redline at least once a day and hit the rev limiter at least a couple of times a week.

You will hear lots of cars bouncing off the rev limiter at an autocross, mine included. 6000 rpm is a conservative limit.

6K is fine. Like the others said, after my car is warmed up I hit redline at least once a day. Often a number of times.

Running into the rev limiter repeatedly is hard on the rods and bearings. In the short term and infrequently no prob, but over the long term and often ??
