Help! how do you remove the door handle pin ....

Ok, I am totally stumped on this and I don't want to force anything for fear of breaking something. I want to remove the black door handle as I am already trouble shooting a window electrical problem. I took off the pins and freed the handle but I can't figure out how to angle it so that it can be taken out of the door. I can slide the pin up or down and get oh so close to angling it out but am a hair shy. Do I push it further? I am worried about snapping something. Any help appreciated. Andrew

Door Handle removal......

Andrew,

There are lots of help available in this board and it would get better responses if you tell us what car and year you have. I had dismantled several doors including window regulators but not exactly sure what's your problem. Pictures will also help. Good luck.

Tony

Sorry about that. The car is an 1989 911 Cabriolet. The handle is the interior door handle (black plastic with the luminous dot on it).

If it is the one I am thinking, just pry up a little more. The plastic part has a notch in it for the pull bar.

thanks for the picture. I have removed the pull bar and spring clips that are on the top / bottom of the pin. But I don't have enough clearance to remove the pin so I can actually pull out the black door handle. Do I have to remove the entire pocket that the handle is attached to - to get the clearance to remove the pin. I was hoping to avoid doing that but it looks like it is necessary.

You don't need to remove the black handle to remove the door handle, it will stay with the door pull handle when the allen bolts are removed that hold it on.

Thanks for the Pictures as they really help. Unfortunately, I need to replace the black door handle piece. So I was trying to figure out how to do it without removing the whole door pull assembly. But it looks like I will need to remove the bottom pocket to get to the all the door pull screws / bolts, then remove the door pull assembly and then the pin will be clear to take out. Andrew

I have the same problem. I only want to know how to get the black plastic inside door handle off...I can't seem to get the rod that the handle pivots on out.
