Front shock tower bushing replacement
I wonder if someone could show how to replace/press in new
rubber bushing in the front shock tower? Picture borrowed from another thread. Cheers ![]() |

Best to replace the entire mount with new bushings.
https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/91134101800.htm?pn=911-341-018-00-M127&SVSVSI=0577 Scrap away the molded hard sealant. Remove the 3 fasteners, washers and plates. Then take a driver or drift and bang away from the top. The mount will drop down. Clean up your hardware and the replacement is fairly straight forward. A front end alignment will be needed after replacement.

You can push them in and out with a hydraulic press pretty easily with some dish soap, put pressure in center they’ll pop right out.

If you want to do this without messing up your alignment, you can just replace the bushing and leave the mount alone. Just cut out the old rubber bushing with a box knife, and install a 2 piece bushing from Elephant Racing. A bit of a pain to cut out the old hard rubber but otherwise an easy job.

I boiled my old mounts for about 10 minutes to soften the rubber, pressed out on hydraulic press using deep well socket. Got them blasted and Cadmium plated, then pressed the rubber back in..... I believe I warmed the rubber up in the oven at 170 deg, then put a bit of silicone lube on them and pressed back in place. Old rubber was still perfect, so now the mounts look like new old stock.

Ok thanks. I thought 1-piece mounts were available which required a press to get them inserted.

Thanks for input regarding this matter.
The choice has fallen on this bushing. It’s in two pieces for ease of installation. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
