Bringing 911SC Weissach to life

Hello Everyone!

This is my first post on this forum, definitely not a last one

I will try to make it short:
As one of many 911 fans, I always wanted to have my own 911. There were some options, mostly 997, I finally decided to do get one, I was checking Autoscout, then Copart, for more than a year. And one day, I was just sitting on a computer with beer, checking the new stuff, and saw 911SC with salvage title on Copart, covered by dust.

The rest came quickly - finding somebody to help in import, almost 4 months of waiting, and here we are - meantime somebody from FB group made realize it is a Weissach version(what a shame I didn't guess it earlier!). I had to change my plans and instead of repaint, change interior color, I decided to bring it to a factory state - no shortcuts, everything original. What I cannot do by myself, I find a real professional to get top-notch quality.

I make this topic to document it and get help from people who know these cars better than me(99,9% I think, being a fan is one, and owning one is another;])
Maybe it will help somebody to learn from my mistakes, I don't know

When I make it up and running, I will proudly add the VIN number to the Weissach registry Wish me luck!

I had to google Copart, I see it's an online auction service out of Texas. Where was the 911 SC located when you purchased it? It looks solid just missing a few body panels. Does the engine run?

Big Porsche swap meet in Carlisle PA. this weekend, maybe to far to travel for such a short notice but there is always next year.

Keep us posted

Thanks for all,

The car was in a California lot.
The salvage title was mechanical(primary) and rear end(secondary).

It came without any rear bumper part, it seems the car got a solid hit from behind - the bottom line goes a bit down the body construction has been moved.

We finally started disassembling and more "surprises" came out - somebody took out a starter, axle driveshafts, and also the computer is missing

The chassis has also some dents.

We have now the easy part before we start disassembling the engine, gearbox, axles, and electricity.
All is documented, marked, notes on the photos, etc.

The car paint is in amazing condition(Thanks to CA climate), the body has totally no rust - anyway, the plan is to strip to bare metal, fix the body mess and meantime take care of the engine, missing parts, and upholstery(which is the lowest priority now).

@Otter74, yes, Poland, how do you know?

@kltarga72 because of the missing starter, we decided to check it when it comes, after we get it out of the car - so no it's a big question mark

I attach some photos of the progress:

Maybe someone can help: I have this connector coming from the central console, on the passenger seat, does anyone know what is this for?

Be careful with the interior pieces as they are very hard to match correctly.

Electronic control unit
California was a little more stringent on meeting EPA guidelines
This may be an item you could eliminate, not sure maybe someone else can chime in on ROW specs.

Thank you, the more I dig, the more I realize how long the journey will be, but planning to keep the car till the end, so...

Thanks for the note about the interior, yeah, we are trying to take all gentle and not break, but the time "did the job". Anyway, I keep all and fortunately except the roof material nothing else suffered.

@kltarga72, @jeff951nj
Speaking of Weissach editions, are there any suspension differences between them and regular SCs? I don't know axles, anything to keep in mind

I believe all Weissach edition 911's came with Bilstein shocks and limited slip differential, no other special suspension options I'm aware of.

If the paint is good, why strip to bare metal? A car only has original paint once. As for the interior, I used GAHH out of California. IIRC, my upholsterer said it was Jack that knows the Weissach interiors. When I redid my interior, the leather was BMW grey-beige and the piping was a Jaguar color.

Interesting to see what features the Weissach edition came with. I new there wasn't any special performance package with the Weissach but was surprised the LSD was an option. Porsche's focus was aimed at the appearance for both the interior and exterior. I was really surprised that the electric sliding sunroof wasn't included in the Weissach package. Thanks for posting the window sticker.
The Weissach I have has the sunroof, alarm system and limited slip differential, no fog lamps or headlight washers, must have ran out of cash.

It may have been in a front ender and had the bumper replaced with one without the washer holes. I think the foglights came with the car, but were in the trunk. My Weissach had the washers, but no fogs. IMHO, it looks better without the fogs.
