Fuchs restoration

Working on my 1974 911s restoration. Looking for some ideas on where to get my Fuchs
Wheels refinished. I’m in San Diego county. Any suggestions?

Harvey Weidman - he's in Northern California - so maybe harder to get to, but as far as I know, the best around...

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing it right. With no regrets.

Harvey Weidman 100%.

I used an alternative source that some had conveyed did good work. (And actually not far from where you are.) I regretted that decision many times over.

I used Fuchs restoration in Lake Forest, CA. Great experience. I am local so I dropped them off and picked them up to save on shipping. Were done in 3 weeks and look great.

Used Fuchs Restoration down in SoCal and was great, couldnt believe my wheels could go from what they were to what they are now. Did the RSR finish. Heard great things from Harvey as well, but also heard hes in such high demand theres a long waitlist? Not sure if thats true or not!

Wheel Enhancement is very popular. I bought a single wheel from them, but never had them do any work for me. In their shop I did see some beautiful work.

Used Fuch Restoration last year. Dropped the wheels off, while we were in the area. Pretty quick turn around. Not to the level of Harvey’s work but I’m not entering the car in any concourse. Had them do a custom paint to match the car. They were anodized. Here’s a picture with my California caps.

Peter Nguyen " The Fuchs Guy"
Excellent work, fair pricing, fast turnaround ( Several weeks )
He's in Orange County
Have had 5 sets redone by him in different finishes, all excellent!

The Fuchs Guy - buyer beware

I had a bad experience with Peter Nguyen with a set of Fuchs that were to be refinished. Unfortunately, the anodization that Peter did was not good and Harvey Weidman ultimately redid the anodization and ultimately finished this set of wheels that Peter had started. This was money and time wasted.

To complete this particular set, I bought one of the wheels from Peter because it had the matching date code that I needed to complete a matching set. On closer inspection, it turns out that this particular wheel had the original date stamp ground down and was restamped. I'm not claiming Peter did it, but he should have known.

I will only send my wheels to Harvey.

Search Peter Nguyen and read all the posts about his work and then decide for yourself

I've used Fuchs restoration for probably 10 sets
Great work, reasonable turn around and fair price

I used Fuchs resto as well. Twice, even, since the tire installer marred the face of the wheels.

When I bought the car back in the late 80's it had 4 1982 cookie cutters on it with wider tires that lightly scraped the fenders. The 5 original Fuchs dated 6/73 and one dated 7/72 were included. A previous owner seems to have hit a curb with one of the originals and replaced it with the 7/72.
I am most likely sending one of my rims to Ed at Fuchs restoration. He said about a 3 week turn around time. I don't mind the repair costs, but wish the shipping costs were a bit cheaper. It costs a fair amount to CA and back to NY.

Just unboxed my rim from Fuchs Restoration. Great job, and done fairly quickly. I can't tell where the original dent and petal gouge were.
Ed was a pleasure to deal with, always responded quickly. I can't say the same for Fedex. Tracking was terrible and a few days delay because of it.

Can't understand how a pro restorer would leave paint on the lug nut contact area.

Make sure whoever you have mount and balance tires uses a cone clamp that clamps in the center hole, not the rubber hat that clamps on the spokes. I don't know if it's a cure time thing or because their rubber hat had debris, but a shop scuffed my wheels with that and Ed had to redo them.
